The Hour Between - Book Two - The Night Shift

$2.99

The Hour Between, Book Two: his story. The same year, told from the dark side of the pier.

The Story

At 3:12 in the morning, the emergency department at Santa Brisa General is at its quietest, and Theo Lindqvist hates it. Quiet means waiting, and waiting gives the mind room.

Theo is thirty-three, a night-shift nurse who keeps his locker empty and his grief locked away. His brother Anders was the loud one, the one who loved Jane Austen and argued that Captain Wentworth was the greatest romantic hero ever written. Now all Theo has left is Anders’s copy of Persuasion.

Every morning after his shift, Theo sits on a bench at the end of the pier, and every morning a baker he has never spoken to leaves him bread. Then someone starts answering the notes in the margins of his book.
